I’m headed to the cottage this weekend and I’m saving my new issues of House Beautiful and Style At Home to read on the dock. I know, my restraint is impressive, right? If you’re doing the same (or have already devoured your new magazines and need something else to read) here are a few blog posts I loved this week:

Making IKEA stuff look like it’s not from IKEA has become a whole subculture in the DIY blog world (have you checked out IKEA Hackers? Go and be amazed. I’ll wait.) I have quite the collection of IKEA frames that have fallen out of use in my home and I might be bringing some of them back into the rotation with one of these awesome makeovers.

Do you have brass fixtures that you’re dying to replace? I do. Have you ever thought about ways to make them work with your decor? Emily A. Clark did and the result is lovely.

Don’t miss these great tips on choosing paint colours from the TBBs.

Aaaaaaaand…Beth from Home Stories A to Z chose Newberry Sykes (that’s us) as one of her featured DIY Tutorials and Tips this week. Mere’s awesome ideas for dressing up a red brick house stood out from a couple of hundred other submissions to Beth’s link party. Make sure to head over there and check out all the great posts that made the list.

Well, I guess we’re having an Ikea party, because I need to make one of those black and white striped mattes for one of my frames! I’ve been looking for easy inspiration and there it is. Awesome.
