After reading our post on Tin Barn Market, you probably know that Sue and I have a little crush on Almonte, ON. When I parked in a wrong parking lot the day Sue and I were there, I had a scenic wander around the water, park and City Hall. Local creative bloggers, Kate & Suz also had a field trip out to Almonte this summer, although without children in tow, they got a little further than we did.
I knew when I saw this renovation of a condo unit in the old Thoburn Mill in Almonte, ON, I needed to share it with you. It combines so many things about a home that I love. Character, personality, modernity mixed with history, beautiful views and creativity. (According to the developers, the Thoburn Mill ran as a wool mill until the 1950s. In 2000 it was re-developed as office space, condos and an artists school.) Check out a few of the views of this 1,100 sqft condo.
There are more pictures and the story around this renovation on Houzz.
If this type of renovation captures your attention there are a few condos for sale in the area. Like this listing from Jennifer & Patrick Kelly on Mill Street. (I’m crazy for that patio! And the mirror as a backsplash behind the sink is a great idea to reflect the light.)
Anyone jumping at the chance to move to Almonte? Or just live with exposed brick? My friends Ann & Steve have exposed brick in their kitchen and it embraces the houses original character so beautifully.
