Yesterday, Sue gave you five simple ideas to embrace some Fall decorating. Today I’m going to show you a few new items that will add some colour-fall new accessories to an Ottawa home. I’m basing these decor items on the colour palette created by Pantone’s 2013 Fall Fashion colours. Every season they release what the trendiest new colours on the runway will be. And since it’s Fashion Week, I thought I’d see if the runway is taking a little catwalk through some of Ottawa’s home decor stores?
My first stop for this virtual Fashion Week shopping trip is at Polanco Furniture in Westboro where we’ll admire this autumnal rug in a zippy orange print. Looks like Pantone’s Koi to me.
And there’s probably nothing more reminiscent of fall than back to school. This painting from Koyman Galleries pulls in fall colours and fall scenery. Pantone calls their deep red of the season, Samba.
Pantone calls it Turbulence, I call this grey smooth sailing to seasonal style for your front door. Beauti-Tone Colour: SC047 Grey Eyeshadow. Lately I’ve been colour matching all my paints at Home Hardware on Bank Street in the Glebe. Love their paint department.
Create a cozy cocoon with a dash of purple (Acai in Pantone’s world) in this coverlet. I could see this purple paired with grey and gold, like Sue’s palette for this condo’s bedroom.
Pantone says this blue hue should be for you. Serve tasty Greek-inspired food on Mykonos blue dishes by Denby; available at the Bay.
Emerald green is the colour of the year, so we’re definitely seeing this in home and fashion. I love the worn green of this Eames rocking chair from The Modern Shop. (If I owned this chair his name would be Bruce Springst-Eames.)
My simple Fall decor is almost complete. I pull out a grey wool blanket (which seems to be on trend with Pantone’s Turbulence) and use my linen-shade table lamps a lot more. With the help of a mirrored end table, they reflect a warm yellow on the walls that is really cozy in evening light. I am set to make an acorn wreath this weekend, but in the meantime my best Fall decor is this cozy sofa accessory
