Design Crush: Ottawa Artistry

logoThis weekend was a busy one for Ottawa exhibitions. I realized too late on Sunday that the Ottawa Art Expo 2013 was on. And of course if you read our review of the Ottawa Antique Show you know it was in full swing too. So while I didn’t get to the Art Expo, I was so pleased to have discovered a few new (new to me at least!) local artists.

The show is dedicated to promoting Canadian & local artists and showcasing student work. I am really impressed by what I see online and am kicking myself for not getting to see this art in person. While it’s beautiful online I can only imagine it’s even better displayed in frames and in perfect light.

Here’s a snippet of some of my favourite local artists at the show. There are so many great pieces here that I’d love to add to a room.

Did anyone else manage to see this Art Expo? I’m definitely going to try to get there next year. In the meantime, I’m really coveting the work by Andrew King. I didn’t realize how much I loved realism.

Wow these pieces are all stunning. Wishing I had gotten to either the Art Expo or a favourite of mine, the Antique Show, this past weekend. I’m seriously in love with John Shea’s piece here…haunting.

It looks like you were pretty busy with your table this weekend :-) A painting similar to the John Shea one I linked to above hangs in my parent’s home to this day. It’s haunting, yet so familiar and inviting. Then again, art is always a personal interpretation…the beauty of it. :-) M
