Have you been as glued to the Olympic coverage as I? I’m loving CBC’s online coverage. We have been able to watch everything whenever we want. I’d love to write a post about sports, amazing accomplishments and the ten times a day I get teary-eyed, but well, you’ve got sports reporters that will do a far better job than I! Instead, I will focus on those precious medals, and how I’ve been searching for ways to bring home the gold, silver and bronze in a less competitive, much less athletic way.
Here it goes, my picks for Olympic-inspired decor items to bring into your home and stay well after the Olympics are over. And of course, all of these items are available for you to find in Ottawa.
Bring Home the Gold
Gold CAN work as an accent (not just for those amazing women’s curling and hockey teams yesterday :-)) Don’t be worried about it looking too fussy or dated…it’s gold, it will never go out of style. Try it with a new lamp, hack an Ikea product (I’ve included a few in here) or add extra sparkle with a gold mirror.

Shopping for Silver
Silver is my mainstay for accent pieces throughout the house, although I’m trying to lean a little more toward gold to spark things up a bit. Silver can reflect lots of light on lamps, tables and countertops, and coordinates with any colour.

Bronze is an ideal accent, whether it be an oil-rubbed bronze spray paint makeover, or a bronze kitchen appliance. I see a lot of bronze in bathrooms and have started to love the combination of grey and bronze together. My parents have new oil-rubbed bronze taps in their bathroom and they are gorgeous. Bronze is subtle and traditional; last, but definitely not least.
